Born in Newmarket in Q3-1895 [Newmarket 3b:513], to John Thomas and Harriet MOORE (née PITCHES) of The Mount, Icewell Hill, Newmarket.

1901 census...Arthur [5] was living in Icewell Hill, Newmarket with his father Arthur [33], a stableman born in Cassop, Durham; his mother Harriet [34] born Brighton, Sussex, and his brother Henry [4] and sister Elizabeth [1]. All the children were born in Newmarket.

1911 census...Arthur [15] was still at Icewell Hill with his parents, and 5 siblings, new were sister Agnes [8] and brothers Thomas [6] and William [2], all born in Newmarket.


He was awarded the Military Medal (citation not yet found), and died of acute bronchitis at one of the C.C.S. in Meaulte.

Sadly the lettering is almost invisible, even to the naked eye, at present on most headstones in this cemetery.
Chemical spraying is being used to attempt to improve things (2017)

Arthur is buried in Grove Town Cemetery, Meaulte, France- Ref: IV.B.26
